In 6th grade Social Studies, students have been exploring the rich history of the Byzantine Empire. We’ve looked closely at how this empire grew out of the fall of Rome and became a center for art, culture, and religion. Students have been especially interested in the story of Emperor Justinian and the building of the Hagia Sophia. Students created vibrant and informative Byzantine Empire posters, showcasing what they’ve learned.

Our 8th graders have been diving into World War II, they have identified how dictators rose to power, and have been focusing on key battles and turning points in the war. We’ve been discussing the causes of the conflict and how events like the attack on Pearl Harbor impacted both the United States and the world. Students are analyzing primary sources, watching historical clips, and taking part in thoughtful discussions. This unit is helping students build a deeper understanding of modern global history and the importance of remembering these pivotal events.
